A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Wilcox County, including Camden and Pine Hill, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL, effective immediately. Residents should complete all preparations for dangerous winds and potential flooding as soon as possible. Tropical storm-force winds are expected within the next 36 hours, from Friday evening until early Saturday morning.
Peak wind forecasts anticipate 40-50 mph with gusts up to 65 mph. The NWS warns of significant potential impacts, including damage to roofing, siding, mobile homes, and numerous snapped or uprooted trees. Roads may become impassable due to large debris, and scattered power and communications outages are expected. Residents should move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous.
Moderate flooding rain is also anticipated, with 2-4 inches of rainfall and locally higher amounts. This could lead to evacuations and rescues, with rivers and tributaries potentially overflowing. Driving conditions may become hazardous, and some road and bridge closures are possible. Heed all flood watches and warnings.
The NWS also indicates a favorable situation for a few tornadoes. While impacts are expected to be limited, isolated tornadoes can cause localized damage and disrupt emergency plans. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly.
