A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Wilcox County, including Camden and Pine Hill, urging residents to shelter immediately due to dangerous winds up to 73 mph and potential major flooding.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Wilcox County, including Camden and Pine Hill, effective immediately by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile, AL. This warning was issued on October 9 at 3:55 PM CDT and is in effect until October 10 at 12:00 AM UTC. Residents are urged to shelter from dangerous wind conditions now.
Wind gusts up to 55 mph are expected, with a potential for winds reaching 58 to 73 mph. Last-minute efforts to protect life and property should be complete. Significant wind damage is possible.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 2-4 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts. This presents a potential for major flooding. Emergency plans should include the likelihood of evacuations and rescues. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life. Extensive rainfall flooding may cause rivers to overflow, and floodwaters could enter many structures.
Tornadoes are not expected at this time. For local information, contact Wilcox County EMA at 334-682-4911. Further storm impact details are available from NWS Mobile at www.weather.gov/mob.
