A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Wiggins, requiring residents to immediately prepare for hazardous winds, potential property damage, and localized flooding.

Wiggins residents should immediately complete preparations for hazardous wind conditions, as a Tropical Storm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile, AL, effective today, October 9, at 6:53 AM CDT. This watch is in effect until 3:00 PM UTC today.

The NWS forecasts peak winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, with the potential for winds reaching 39 to 57 mph. Damage to carports, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes is possible, along with downed tree limbs and potential power outages. Hazardous driving conditions are anticipated on bridges and elevated roadways.

While no significant rainfall is forecast, localized flooding may occur in vulnerable areas due to heavy rain. Residents should monitor flood watches and warnings. Tornadoes are not expected.
