Palm Beach County residents are reminded that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The county encourages participation in events and actions to support victims and highlight local resources.
Purple Thursday, observed nationally on the third Thursday of October, falls on October 22 this year. Residents are encouraged to wear purple to show solidarity and to share information about available support systems. The message is to believe those who confide about experiencing domestic violence and help connect them with local resources.

The Public Safety Department Victim Services Division hosts its third annual Purple Walk to End Domestic Violence on Wednesday, October 28. Participants will walk two miles along the West Palm Beach waterfront, starting at 7:30 a.m. at 1300 S. Olive Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33401. The walk concludes by 9:30 a.m. The event aims to bring the community together to advocate for an end to domestic violence.
