Until a tornado on 2 March 2012, this was the site of the Christian Church of West Liberty, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places; it has not yet been removed from the Register, despite its destruction.

March 02, 2012 West Liberty, KY Damage
On March 2, 2012, West Liberty, KY and other areas of the American Midwest were hit hard by multiple tornadoes, many of which were severe. West Liberty was struck by now what is believed to have been an EF3 tornado. The image, taken by a NWS storm damage surveyor, shows the West Liberty Municipal building, its roof torn, as well as cars and debris stacked upon the side of the road.
