Residents in parts of Choctaw, Clay, Oktibbeha, and Webster counties in Mississippi should seek immediate shelter due to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, MS. The warning is in effect from 7:59 PM CDT until 8:30 PM CDT on September 21, 2026.
At 7:59 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was detected near Pheba, approximately 11 miles northwest of Starkville, moving east at 15 mph. The NWS indicates this storm presents hazards including 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Hail damage to vehicles is expected, and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees is possible.
Impacted areas include Starkville, Griffith, and Pala Alto, which are expected to be affected around 8:05 PM CDT.
