Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Move to Interior Room Until 8:30 PM CDT
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts of Choctaw, Clay, Oktibbeha, and Webster counties until 8:30 PM CDT tonight; residents should move to an interior room for safety.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for portions of Choctaw, Clay, Oktibbeha, and Webster counties in Mississippi, effective immediately until 8:30 PM CDT tonight, September 21, 2026. Residents in the affected areas are advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for their protection.
The National Weather Service in Jackson, MS, issued this warning at 7:36 PM CDT. At 7:35 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Pheba, approximately 16 miles northwest of Starkville, moving east at 15 mph. This storm is capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.
Impacts are expected to include hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. The severe thunderstorm is anticipated to affect Pheba, Griffith, and Montpelier around 7:40 PM CDT, Pala Alto around 8:00 PM CDT, and Starkville around 8:05 PM CDT.
This warning specifically covers northeastern Choctaw County, northern Oktibbeha County, northeastern Webster County, and southwestern Clay County.
