Heat wave to sweep across U.S. this week with triple-digit temperatures expected

Meteorologists have issued warnings for a heat wave expected to affect large portions of the United States over the coming days, bringing dangerously high temperatures and humidity to the Midwest, Eastern states, and New England.

Forecasters describe the system as a heat dome, a weather pattern that traps warm air over a region for an extended period. The conditions are expected to impact broad swaths of the country, with some areas potentially reaching triple-digit temperatures.

The combination of high heat and elevated humidity levels will create conditions forecasters characterize as impactful across affected areas. The National Weather Service and other meteorological agencies have alerted residents to prepare for the dangerous conditions.

New England residents should expect heat wave warnings as temperatures rise throughout the week. The Midwest faces similar threats, with forecasters cautioning that the conditions will affect anyone in the affected regions.

Authorities typically recommend that residents stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, and check on vulnerable populations during such events. Heat waves pose particular risks to elderly individuals, young children, and those with existing health conditions.

Forecasters continue to monitor the system and will provide updated guidance as the week progresses.
