A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Washington County, effective immediately as of October 9 at 6:53 PM CDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile, AL. This severe warning impacts Chatom and Millry, and will remain in effect until October 10 at 3:00 AM UTC.

Residents in affected areas should prepare for hazardous winds between 39 and 57 mph, with peak gusts potentially reaching 50 mph. Complete all property protection efforts as soon as possible and move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Limited damage to unanchored mobile homes, porches, and sheds is possible, along with downed tree limbs and scattered power outages.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 1 inch of rain expected. This poses a potential for major flooding. Emergency plans should include the likelihood of evacuations and rescues. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Flood waters may make roads impassable and enter structures. The NWS indicates tornadoes are not expected at this time.
