WASHINGTON COUNTY, AL – October 9, 2026 – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Chatom and Millry, effective immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile, AL issued the warning at 10:13 PM CDT, urging residents to move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin.
The primary threat is from hazardous winds, with peak forecasts of 15-25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph. There is potential for winds between 39 to 57 mph. Residents should complete all remaining efforts to protect property as soon as possible. Expected impacts include damage to unanchored mobile homes, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages. A few roads may become impassable due to debris, particularly in urban or heavily wooded areas. Hazardous driving conditions are anticipated on bridges and elevated roadways.
No additional significant rainfall is forecast, and the NWS indicates little to no potential for flooding rain or tornadoes. However, residents should monitor for any changes to the forecast.
