A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Washington County, including Chatom and Millry, effective immediately until 9:15 PM CDT today, October 9th. The National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL issued the warning at 1:02 PM CDT.

Residents should plan for hazardous winds of 25-35 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph. Complete all remaining property protection efforts as soon as possible and move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin. Potential impacts include damage to lightweight structures, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Hazardous driving conditions are expected, especially on elevated roadways.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 1-3 inches of rainfall expected, potentially higher in localized areas. Moderate flooding is possible, which may prompt evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may swell, and floodwaters could enter some structures. Heed any flood watches and warnings. For local information, contact Washington County EMA at 251-847-2668.
