FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE City of Hiram Announces Leadership Transition and Intention to Appoint an Interim City Manager HIRAM, GA — May 1, 2026 — The City of Hiram announces that Jody Palmer has submitted his resignation as City Manager, effective immediately. Mr. Palmer has served the City of Hiram for 20 years, contributing to the growth and development of our community through various roles, most recently as the City’s chief administrative officer. The Mayor and Council express their appreciation for his two decades of service and wish him success in his future endeavors. To ensure the continued smooth operation of City services and the completion of ongoing strategic projects, the Hiram City Council intends to consider the appointment of Michael Huffstetler, current Operations Director, to serve as Interim City Manager at its next City Council meeting on May 5. Should the appointment be approved, Mr. Huffstetler would assume all administrative responsibilities. He would work closely with the Mayor, City Council, and staff to maintain the City’s high standard of public service and to oversee the execution of the City’s current fiscal and infrastructure goals. “Our priority is the stability and prosperity of the Hiram community,” said the Mayor. The Mayor and Council want residents to know they can expect no interruption in City services, public safety, or administrative operations. The City Council will begin a comprehensive search for a permanent City Manager in the coming months.
