District 4 Residents Air Concerns Over E-Bikes, Drainage, Pickleball Courts

Walton County Commissioner Donna Johns hosted a packed townhall meeting Thursday evening where District 4 residents raised concerns about electric bicycles on sidewalks, drainage problems, and the proposed placement of pickleball courts.

County Administrator Brian Kellenberger, Deputy County Administrator Mike Thornton, Beach Operations Director Josh Ervin, County Engineer Chance Powell, and other senior staff fielded questions about e-bike safety, drainage issues in several areas, and planned improvements to Paradise Park and Legion Park.

After the formal session, county staff met individually with residents to discuss specific projects.

"This was a great way of getting facts out to our residents," Johns said. "I learned some things and it was great having staff here to answer questions and address concerns."

Johns acknowledged the challenge of balancing competing interests across the district. "We know that there is no way to please everybody, but we are trying to make the best decisions we can for everybody," she said.
