Wallowa County residents should take immediate steps to protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing as a Freeze Warning has been issued for the area. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pendleton, OR, issued the warning, which is effective from 1 AM to 10 AM PDT on Saturday, October 10.

Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 degrees Fahrenheit are expected in the Wallowa Valley. These conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Unprotected outdoor plumbing may also be damaged.

Residents are advised to take action now to cover or bring indoors any tender plants. Ensure outdoor pipes are adequately insulated or drained to prevent freezing.
