Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Coastal Wakulla: Evacuate if Ordered

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Coastal Wakulla, with life-threatening storm surge, potential flooding, and wind gusts expected; residents should complete preparations and be ready to evacuate if ordered.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Coastal Wakulla, effective immediately as of October 7 at 11:00 PM EDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee. This warning includes Saint Marks and Panacea. Residents in storm surge-prone areas are urged to complete evacuation efforts and flood preparations before conditions become unsafe. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services.

Life-threatening storm surge inundation of 4-6 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. This could lead to significant impacts, including damage to buildings, washed-out escape routes, major beach erosion, and moderate damage to marinas. Wind gusts up to 30 mph are possible. Additionally, 2-4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, could cause moderate flooding. The NWS also indicates a potential for a few tornadoes. Listen for instructions from local officials and ensure emergency readiness.
