A Storm Surge Watch has been issued for Coastal Wakulla, including Saint Marks and Panacea, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective October 7 at 4:52 PM EDT. Life-threatening storm surge inundation of 4-6 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Residents in surge-prone areas should prepare immediately and be ready to evacuate if orders are issued.

The NWS warns of significant impacts from storm surge, including damage to buildings near the coast, washed-out escape routes, major beach erosion, and damage to marinas. Wind speeds are expected to remain below tropical storm force, but gusty conditions are possible.

Additional rainfall of 2-4 inches, with localized higher amounts, could lead to moderate flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers may swell, and roads may become hazardous. The tornado threat has increased, with a potential for isolated tornadoes. Residents should stay informed and be prepared to shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued.
