Tropical Storm Warning for Inland Wakulla: Major Flooding, Tornadoes Possible
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Inland Wakulla, including Crawfordville and Wakulla Springs, with major flooding and several tornadoes possible from heavy rains and favorable atmospheric conditions.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Inland Wakulla, including Crawfordville and Wakulla Springs, effective immediately as of October 8 at 5:22 PM EDT, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee. This warning remains in effect until October 9 at 1:30 AM UTC.
Residents should prepare for significant threats from heavy rainfall and potential tornadoes. A Flood Watch is in effect, with forecasts predicting an additional 4-8 inches of rain, and localized higher amounts. This could lead to major rainfall flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers and streams may overflow, and many structures could be impacted.
The NWS also indicates conditions are favorable for several tornadoes, which could cause significant damage, power outages, and communication failures. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly.
While sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force (10-15 mph with gusts to 30 mph), gusts up to 30 mph are possible. Little to no storm surge inundation is expected.
