Sarasota County Schools is thrilled to announce a "Day of Giving" on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, aimed at ensuring every student in our district has the necessary resources to begin the academic year successfully. This community-wide effort encourages residents and local businesses to contribute essential items and financial support.
**How You Can Help:**
* **School Supplies:** Donations of new school supplies such as notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, glue sticks, rulers, and backpacks are greatly needed. Specific needs may vary by school, so check with your local school for their wish list.
* **Uniforms:** Gently used or new uniform clothing items are also welcomed. Many students benefit from having appropriate attire for the school day.
* **Monetary Donations:** Financial contributions allow the district to purchase items in bulk and address specific, pressing needs across all schools. Donations can be made online through the Sarasota County Schools website.
**Drop-off Locations and Times:**
Donations can be dropped off at various locations across the county on August 6th. Specific drop-off points and hours will be announced on the Sarasota County Schools website and social media channels closer to the date. We encourage participation from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on August 6th.
**Why Your Support Matters:**
"Our students and educators work incredibly hard, and this Day of Giving is a tangible way for our community to show their support," said Dr. Karen Jones, Superintendent of Sarasota County Schools. "Every donation, no matter the size, makes a significant impact in providing a positive and productive learning environment for our children."
Last year, the "Day of Giving" helped provide over 500 backpacks filled with supplies and assisted dozens of families with uniform needs. This year, the goal is to expand that reach and ensure no student starts the school year without the tools they need to thrive.
Join us on August 6th to make a difference. Let's work together to build a stronger future for Sarasota County students.
