Wind Advisory Issued for Portland Metro: Secure Loose Objects Now
A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Portland Metro area and surrounding regions, effective until 11 AM PDT today, September 25, with winds up to 45 mph expected. Secure loose outdoor objects and drive with caution.
Residents across the Tualatin Valley, Portland Metro area, and Clark County lowlands are advised to secure outdoor objects immediately as a Wind Advisory is in effect until 11 AM PDT today, September 25, 2026. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Portland, OR, issued this advisory due to expected south winds reaching 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph.
Affected areas in Oregon include the East Central Willamette Valley, East Portland Metro, Inner Portland Metro, Outer Southeast Portland Metro, Portland West Hills and Chehalem Mountain, Tualatin Valley, and West Central Willamette Valley Counties. In Washington, the advisory covers East Clark County Lowlands, Inner Vancouver Metro, and North Clark County Lowlands Counties.
Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects. The NWS warns that tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result. The presence of full leaf cover on trees may increase the risk of wind damage at lower wind speeds than usual.
Drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, should use extra caution. Secure outdoor items such as garbage cans and other objects that could be moved by the wind.
