JetZero Opens North Carolina Factory With State's Largest Startup Incentive Package
JetZero announced the opening of its first aircraft factory in Greensboro, North Carolina, supported by an incentive package from the state that exceeds any previous offer to a startup company.
The manufacturer plans to hire 14,500 workers over the next ten years at the facility. The company will use digital design tools from Siemens and Deloitte to operate what it calls a smart factory.
JetZero's Z4 aircraft will consume up to 50 percent less fuel than comparable jets, according to the company. The aircraft also aims to improve the passenger experience during flight.
State officials have not disclosed the full terms of the incentive package, though officials characterized it as the largest the state has awarded to a startup enterprise. Incentive packages typically include tax credits, workforce training funds, or infrastructure improvements.
