A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Chambers County, including Valley, Lanett, and Lafayette, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Birmingham AL, effective immediately as of October 9 at 4:20 PM CDT. The warning remains in effect until October 10 at 12:30 AM UTC.

Residents should prepare for moderate flooding rain with an additional 1-3 inches expected, and locally higher amounts. A Flood Watch is in effect. Be prepared for potential evacuations and rescues. Do not drive through flooded roads. The NWS advises heeding all flood watches and warnings.

The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes. While sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force (15-25 mph with gusts to 50 mph), conditions will be gusty. If a tornado warning is issued, shelter quickly. Be aware of potential significant impacts including tornado damage, power loss, and communication failures.
