UPSON COUNTY, GA – October 9, 2026 – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Upson County, including Thomaston, effective immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City GA issued the warning at 11:16 AM EDT today, indicating tropical storm-force winds are expected within the next 36 hours.
Residents should act now to complete all preparations. Peak winds are forecast to be 10-20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with potential for gusts up to 57 mph. This can lead to limited damage to property, downed tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Efforts to protect property should be underway.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 3-6 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. This presents a potential for moderate flooding, which may require evacuations and rescues.
