Bowie Gets 4 EV Charging Stations with $40K State Grant

Bowie Gets $40,000 State Grant for EV Charging Stations

The City of Bowie will use a $40,000 Maryland Energy Administration grant to install two dual-port Level 2 electric vehicle chargers at the Bowie Gymnasium and Senior Center.

The grant covers about half the installation and equipment costs. Each charger accommodates two vehicles, creating four total charging spots. Bowie will fund the remaining project expenses.

Level 2 chargers add 20 to 25 miles of range per hour, faster than standard household outlets. The locations serve as community hubs, giving residents and visitors access to charging infrastructure.

The funding comes from the Maryland Energy Administration's FY24 EVSE Rebate Program, which supports the state's goal of deploying 300,000 zero-emission vehicles by 2030.
