Residents in Westmoreland, Fayette, and higher elevations of Indiana counties should immediately secure outdoor objects as a Wind Advisory is now in effect. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pittsburgh, PA, issued this advisory at 2:16 AM EDT on October 11, 2026, and it will remain in effect until 2:00 PM EDT today.

East winds are expected to be between 10 to 20 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 40 mph. These conditions could blow around unsecured items, cause tree limbs to fall, and may lead to isolated power outages.

The affected areas include Fayette, Higher Elevations of Fayette, Higher Elevations of Westmoreland, Higher Elevations of Indiana, and Westmoreland Counties.

The NWS advises that if you observe downed trees, power lines, or large branches, report them by calling 412-262-1988, posting to the NWS Pittsburgh Facebook page, or using X (formerly Twitter) @NWSPittsburgh.
