TROY, AL – October 8, 2026 – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Pike County, including Troy, effective immediately until 6:30 AM UTC on October 9, 2026. The National Weather Service in Birmingham, AL, issued the warning at 10:27 PM CDT tonight, advising residents to prepare for hazardous conditions.

Residents should plan for winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, with the potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. All efforts to secure property should be completed as soon as possible. Move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin.

A Flood Watch is in effect, with 1-3 inches of rain expected, and higher localized amounts possible. Moderate flooding is anticipated, which may necessitate evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life.

The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter immediately. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if issued.

Potential impacts include damage to porches, awnings, unanchored mobile homes, and significant tree limb breakage. Roads may become impassable due to debris, and scattered power and communication outages are possible. Floodwaters may enter structures, and roads could become hazardous.
