Schoharie (Schoharie County): Sharon M. Tompkins 79, of Morning Sun Drive, Schoharie, NY passed away Monday, May 11th at her home under the loving care of her family after a brief illness.Sharon was born April 5, 1947 in Schoharie, NY, a daughter of Edward Bender, Sr. and Shirley (Foster) Bender. She attended Schoharie High School, graduating with the class of 1965. For many years, Sharon faithfully and safely drove school bus for Schoharie School until ill health forced her retirement. She enjoyed riding her own motorcycle, trips to the casino, and camping. In her younger years Sharon also enjoyed attending square-dances where her father was the caller.Survivors include: her longtime partner, John “PJ” Wainwright of Schoharie, her daughters; Colleen “Susie” (Steven) Diamond of Schoharie, and Jody (Damian) Wainwright of Schoharie, 6 grandchildren; Adrieanna, Cameron, Sierra, Nicholas, Brandon and Cheyanne, 2 great-grandchildren; Nevaeh and Harper, her brother Edward J. Bender, Jr. of Schoharie and her nieces and nephews; Melissa, Walter, Edward, Timothy, and Stacey. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Tompkins and sister, Gail Zeh.Calling hours will be held from 12PM to 2PM on Friday, May 15th at the Langan Funeral Home, 327 Main Street followed by a funeral service at 2PM.
