THOMASVILLE, GA – October 9, 2026 – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee, FL, has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Thomasville, effective immediately until October 10, 2026, at 7:00 AM UTC (3:00 AM EDT). Residents are urged to complete all preparations now as hazardous conditions are imminent.

A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 2-4 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. This extreme flooding rain may necessitate numerous evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries are at risk of overflowing, and small waterways could become raging. Floodwaters may enter numerous structures, making some uninhabitable. Driving conditions will become very dangerous with potential road and bridge closures. Residents should heed all flood watches and warnings immediately. Failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life.

A Tornado Watch is also in effect. The NWS indicates a potential for several tornadoes, with some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings; if a warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly.

Peak wind forecasts are 10-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, but the potential exists for winds of 39 to 57 mph. Damage to porches, awnings, unanchored mobile homes, and large tree limbs is possible. Scattered power and communication outages are anticipated. Efforts to protect property should be underway. Act now to complete preparations before hazardous winds arrive.
