Wildfire Relief Supplies Stored in The Dalles Area
Volunteers packed and relocated donated items for Rowena-Burdoin wildfire survivors on August 18 and 19, completing the first phase of a regional relief effort.
Crews worked at Wahtonka Cafeteria and The Dalles Elks Lodge to move inventory to secure storage. The items will remain there until spring, when distribution begins as survivors rebuild their homes.
Residents from The Dalles, Hood River, Mosier, Lyle, Klickitat, and Wahkiacus donated clothing and personal items. Bountiful Blessings, located at 308 Washington Street, will coordinate distribution. Impacted residents needing immediate assistance can call 541-705-5783.
More than a dozen community partners contributed to the effort, including the City of The Dalles, The Dalles Elks Lodge #303, the Mid-Columbia Action Community Council, and Wasco County.
Organizers delayed distribution until spring to align with the pace of reconstruction, ensuring survivors have places to store household items when they move into rebuilt homes.
