PortMiami handled more than 1.2 million cruise passengers in the first quarter of 2026, setting a new benchmark for the bustling South Florida seaport and driving a 15% year-over-year boost to the local tourism economy, according to initial reporting by WPLG Local 10. This milestone builds on the port's fiscal year 2025 record of 8,564,225 passengers — a 4.02% increase from 8,233,056 the prior year — capping a banner period from Oct. 1, 2024, to Sept. 30, 2025. Single-day highs underscore the frenzy: 75,201 passengers across 10 ships on Nov. 30, 2025, and roughly 69,000 on April 4, 2026, with giants like Icon of the Seas (248,663 gross tons) and MSC World America (215,863 gross tons).

Mega-vessels dominated the port's packed schedule, including Norwegian Luna, Carnival Magic, and an unscheduled stop by Wonder of the Seas for a medical evacuation on April 4. The 2025-2026 season dazzles with newcomers: Cunard's Queen Elizabeth and Virgin Voyages' Brilliant Lady in October 2025; MSC Cruises' Grandiosa in December 2025; and Silversea Cruises' Silver Nova in May 2026. These ships, docking amid Miami's skyline, channel billions into hotels, restaurants and shops along Biscayne Boulevard and in Wynwood, where cruise crowds fuel a vibrant local scene.
