A Wind Advisory has been issued for Madison, Inland Taylor, Lafayette, Inland Dixie, and Coastal Dixie counties in Florida, as well as Turner, Tift, Ben Hill, Irwin, Cook, Berrien, Brooks, Lowndes, and Lanier counties in Georgia. The National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL issued this advisory today, October 9, 2026, at 2:42 PM EDT. It will remain in effect until 8:00 PM EDT on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
Southeast winds are expected to reach 15 to 30 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 50 mph. These strong winds can make driving challenging, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Residents are advised to use extra caution when traveling.
The NWS warns that gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects. There is also a possibility of tree limbs being blown down, which could lead to isolated power outages. Secure outdoor items and be prepared for potential disruptions to electrical service.
