A Special Weather Statement has been issued for Inland Jefferson, Madison, Inland Taylor, Lafayette, Inland Dixie, Thomas, Brooks, and Lowndes counties. The National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL reports a cluster of strong thunderstorms near Madison, moving northwest at 15 mph.

This alert is effective immediately, Wednesday, October 3, 2026, and expires at 3:45 PM EDT. Residents in affected areas, including Mayo, Madison, Quitman, Valdosta, and Greenville, should be aware of wind gusts up to 40 mph.

The NWS advises that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. If you are outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also expected, which may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
