Life-Threatening Storm Surge, Tornadoes Threaten Coastal Taylor
A life-threatening Storm Surge Warning is in effect for Coastal Taylor, including Keaton Beach and Steinhatchee, with immediate action required due to potential 4-6 feet of inundation, along with threats of tornadoes and flooding rain.
Coastal Taylor residents, including Keaton Beach and Steinhatchee, face a life-threatening Storm Surge Warning effective immediately until 7:15 AM UTC on October 9. The National Weather Service Tallahassee has issued the alert, urging immediate action.
Forecasters predict potential storm surge inundation of 4-6 feet above ground in surge-prone areas through Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations must be completed now. Leave immediately if evacuation orders are given to avoid being cut off from emergency services.
Significant impacts are expected, including damage to buildings, washed-out roads, major beach erosion, and damage to marinas. Additionally, a Flood Watch is in effect, with 3-6 inches of additional rain possible, leading to moderate flooding. Emergency plans should account for evacuations and rescues.
The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes, which could cause considerable damage and power loss. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly. While winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force, gusty conditions are possible.
