Rays fans packed downtown St. Petersburg bars Tuesday night for the ALCS opener, with some using the playoff run as a way to connect with a team also rebuilding after Hurricane Helene.

Downtown St. Petersburg filled with Rays fans Tuesday night as the team faced the Cleveland Guardians in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series. Crowds gathered at bars and restaurants across the Edge District and waterfront, many wearing blue and white.

Kyle and Donna Malone celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary at Ferg's Sports Bar, unable to secure tickets to Tropicana Field. Donna Malone said her family lost their home to Hurricane Helene just as the storm damaged the Rays' stadium roof. "We're here supporting," she said. "They lost their home the way we lost ours."

Local artist Rasta Taylor displayed team-inspired artwork throughout downtown, including fiberglass hearts and yard posts featuring Rays players at his shop, 1 of 1 Customs.

The ALCS continues with Game 2 at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
