Frank Lloyd Wright Planetarium at Florida Southern Reopens

LAKELAND, Fla. – The world's only Frank Lloyd Wright-designed planetarium at Florida Southern College reopened its doors Saturday after a two-decade closure. The $20 admission, or $15 for groups of four or more, grants visitors access to updated immersive shows within the historic structure.

The planetarium, built between 1954 and 1958, received a multi-million-dollar renovation. State grants funded new video, audio, and acoustic systems, while private donations supported structural restoration. College leaders stated the updated space honors Wright's original vision.

"People will now be asking, 'Have you seen the planetarium?'" said Florida Southern College President Jeremy Martin. He highlighted Wright's fascination with technological advancements.

The planetarium will now feature regularly scheduled public shows and educational programs for K-12 students and local community groups. Admission is separate from Florida Southern's standard Frank Lloyd Wright architectural tours.
