Downtown Tampa will see heavy traffic Saturday as the Pig Jig, Lightning game, Alzheimer's walk and other events draw crowds throughout the day.
The Walk to End Alzheimer's starts at 9 a.m. at Benchmark International Arena and Bayshore Boulevard. Art Fair Tampa opens at 10 a.m. at the Tampa Convention Center, followed by the National Franchise Expo at 11 a.m. The Pig Jig begins at 1 p.m. at Julian B. Lane Park.
Evening events include the Lightning game at 4 p.m. at Benchmark International Arena, the USF football game at 7 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium, and three Straz Center shows at 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Drivers should allow extra time and watch for pedestrians near event areas and along Bayshore Boulevard. Check the City of Tampa's website for road closures and parking before leaving.
Those avoiding traffic can use the free TECO Line Streetcar, DASH service and HART buses. Rentable scooters and bikes are available, and downtown garages offer free bicycle parking.
