Residents in Northern Park, Livingston Area, Beartooth Foothills, Northern Sweet Grass, and Southern Wheatland areas should prepare for winter weather conditions beginning tonight. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Billings, MT, has issued a Winter Weather Advisory effective from midnight tonight, October 10, until noon MDT on Monday, October 12.

Periods of wet snow and blowing snow are expected. Total snow accumulations are forecast to be between 2 and 6 inches, with isolated higher amounts possible. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.

Travel may become difficult due to slushy or snowy roads and reduced visibility. This includes US-191 from Big Timber to Judith Gap, I-90 from Big Timber to Livingston, and Bozeman Pass. Tree and power line damage are possible, which could lead to power outages.

The NWS advises all travelers to slow down and use caution. For the latest road conditions, call 511. Be prepared for slick roads and watch your first steps on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways, as these surfaces could be icy.
