Winter Weather Advisory Issued: Prepare for Snow and Difficult Travel
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from Saturday midnight to Monday noon for central and south-central Montana, with 2-6 inches of wet snow and gusting winds expected to make travel difficult, especially on I-90 and US-191.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Billings, MT, urging residents to slow down and use caution while traveling due to expected periods of wet snow and gusting winds. This advisory is in effect from midnight Saturday, October 10th, until noon MDT on Monday, October 12th.
Affected areas include Northern Park, Judith Gap, Livingston Area, Beartooth Foothills, Northern Sweet Grass, and Southern Wheatland in central and south-central Montana. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 6 inches are anticipated, with winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
Travel could become difficult, particularly on US-191 from Big Timber to Judith Gap, and I-90 from Big Timber to Livingston and Bozeman Pass, due to slushy or snowy roads and poor visibility. Bozeman Pass on I-90 west of Livingston is expected to be especially hazardous, with snow amounts in excess of 6 inches possible. Travelers are advised to be prepared for these conditions.
