A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Sumter County, including Livingston, by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, effective today, October 9, 2026, at 6:57 AM CDT. This watch is set to expire at 3:00 PM CDT today.
Residents should prepare for hazardous winds between 39 to 57 mph. Efforts to secure property must be completed as soon as possible. Move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Potential impacts include damage to porches, awnings, carports, and sheds, along with downed tree limbs and some trees. Scattered power and communication outages are possible, and some roads may become impassable due to debris.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 2-4 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Moderate rainfall flooding may lead to evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries could overflow, and floodwaters may enter structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life.
