Stuart residents interested in hip-hop news may have heard about a public disagreement between rappers Coi Leray and Latto. Coi Leray recently shared details about the situation, stating that things escalated to a point where “something happened behind the scenes that went too far.”

In a September 2026 appearance on BET’s The Jason Lee Show, Leray explained that the dispute stemmed from lyrics in Latto’s 2023 song “Put It on da Floor.” According to Leray, she got into a physical altercation with Brooklyn Nikole, Latto’s younger sister, over the lyrics. Latto had referenced Coi Leray in the song with the lines, “Smokin’ on that gas, blunt big as Coi Leray/ B**ches like to run they mouth, but I’m the type to run a fade.”

Leray stated that she felt Brooklyn Nikole was defending her sister, while Leray was defending herself. “Again, Latto dropped a bar that I felt [crossed] the line,” Leray said. “At the end of the day, all Latto had to do was just be like, ‘Yo, bro, it was nothing.’”

Leray alleged that the situation culminated in a physical confrontation with Nikole. “She swung on me,” Leray claimed, adding that her security intervened before Nikole could make contact. Leray described the incident as “a whole fist fight” and stated that it led to her re-fracturing her knee. She clarified that the fight remained standing and did not go to the ground.

Despite the altercation, Leray expressed a desire to move past the conflict. “I want to be the bigger person and “start over” with Latto,” she said. Leray noted that becoming a mother has given her a new perspective on relationships and managing significant life events.

Latto has not publicly responded to Leray’s recent comments. Previously, Latto appeared to downplay any beef, reportedly telling the audience at Coachella in 2023, “Ay, Coi Leray, I love your body, baby.” Leray responded to this statement at the time with a tweet saying “much love.”
