The 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which runs from June 1 through November 30, is forecasted to be more active than usual. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) expects 13 to 19 named storms, with 6 to 10 becoming hurricanes and 3 to 5 of those possibly reaching major hurricane strength (Category 3 or higher). This increased activity is due in part to warmer Atlantic Ocean temperatures, continued ENSO neutral conditions and forecasts for weak wind shear and the potential for higher activity point for the Atlantic hurricanes.
