Stuart residents may recall the distinctive "YM" logo associated with rapper Lil Wayne's record label, Young Money Entertainment. What many may not know is that the original iteration of this logo was retired following legal pressure from a Major League Baseball team.

During a Sept. 16, 2026 appearance on The Joint Venture Show, Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter Jr., recounted how the New York Yankees sent his label a cease-and-desist order. The Yankees front office contended that the "YM" logo bore too close a resemblance to their iconic "NY" emblem.

"They just sent me a cease-and-desist," Lil Wayne explained to host Craig Carton. "And I had to stop using it… I just changed my logo." The rapper recalled the incident when discussing a cherished gift from his youth: a condo door featuring the original Young Money logo, which he received before the legal action was taken.

Despite the forced redesign, Lil Wayne expressed no ill will towards the MLB organization. In fact, he views the experience as a notable moment in his career. "I felt more cooler getting a letter from the Yankees," he quipped.

Founded in 2005, Young Money Entertainment, in collaboration with Cash Money Records, has been instrumental in launching the careers of prominent hip-hop artists such as Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Tyga. The label has been largely inactive since 2020.

In a separate anecdote from the interview, Lil Wayne also shared his admiration for actress Dakota Fanning's rapping skills. Fanning recently went viral in September 2026 for performing a Lil Wayne verse from his *No Ceilings* mixtape. The rapper acknowledged her performance via Instagram, a moment Fanning described as a significant validation.
