Stuart residents might find it interesting to hear about the early career advice Maye Musk offered her son, Elon, before he embarked on his most ambitious ventures. In a recent discussion, Maye Musk shared that her initial recommendation to her son was to focus on just one company at a time.

Maye Musk recounted a conversation with Elon after his involvement with PayPal, when he was contemplating his next steps. He presented her with options: electric cars, rockets, or solar energy. Her advice, she revealed, was simple: "you’ve just worked so hard, just do one." She added with a touch of humor, "So you see, he doesn’t listen to me."

Despite her suggestion, Elon Musk went on to pursue multiple companies simultaneously, facing considerable skepticism about their potential for success. Maye Musk expressed pride in his accomplishments, noting, "And then he did six companies, and they were all going to fail. Remember? Everybody’s fail, fail, fail and now I’m so proud of him."

She also reflected on Elon's distinct way of thinking from a young age. She recalled him becoming deeply absorbed in thought as a child, often surprising her with profound observations. "He was different because he would go into deep thoughts," she said, noting his ability to make such observations as early as three years old. Maye Musk observed that her son's capacity to identify, articulate, and solve problems was evident even in his early childhood. "He could recognize things, and he can describe it, and I was saying, ‘that’s three-year-old, you know. He can figure out things,'" she stated.
