Residents and visitors along the coasts of Nassau, Flagler, St. Johns, Glynn, and Camden counties should exercise extreme caution today, September 27th, as a High Rip Current Risk and Coastal Flood Advisory are in effect.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville FL has issued a Rip Current Statement that remains active until 8:00 PM EDT tonight. Dangerous rip currents are expected throughout the day, posing a significant threat to swimmers. The Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until noon EDT today, with minor coastal flooding anticipated.

The affected areas include Coastal Nassau, Coastal Flagler, Northeast Coastal St. Johns, Southeast Coastal St. Johns, Coastal Glynn, and Coastal Camden.

For those in areas affected by the Coastal Flood Advisory, the NWS advises allowing extra travel time due to potential road closures. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Property owners in flood-prone areas should take necessary protective actions.

Regarding the High Rip Current Risk, the NWS urges all beachgoers to swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float; do not swim against the current. If possible, swim parallel to the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
