Drivers in Central, North Central, and Northeast South Dakota are advised to slow down and use headlights this morning due to a Dense Fog Advisory. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Aberdeen, SD, issued the advisory at 7:10 AM CDT, effective until 11:00 AM CDT today, September 25, 2026.

Visibility is reported to be one-quarter mile or less in dense fog, making driving conditions hazardous. The affected areas include Campbell, McPherson, Brown, Walworth, Edmunds, Potter, Faulk, Spink, Sully, Hughes, Hyde, Hand, Lyman, and Buffalo counties.

The NWS urges all drivers to take precautions: slow down, use your headlights, and maintain plenty of distance between your vehicle and others. These measures are critical to ensure safety during periods of low visibility.
