200 low-income residents to receive free ACs, home-tech items through city lottery

Chelsea residents in 200 low-income households are set to receive essential home appliances, including air conditioning units, vacuums, air filters, and sound machines, through a city-sponsored lottery program. The initiative, spearheaded by the Chelsea Department of Public Health and the City Manager's Office, aims to enhance the quality of life for vulnerable populations.

Priority for the program was given to households with individuals at higher health risk, including those with existing illnesses or disabilities, pregnant individuals, seniors aged 65 and older, and families with children. Additional consideration was extended to veterans, renters, and residents living without an air conditioning unit, particularly those residing along the Tobin Bridge corridor.

The weighted lottery, which determined the recipients of these much-needed items, was held on April 28. A list of the winning Unique Identification (UID) numbers has been made available for public review. Winners will be contacted directly by the city in the coming days and weeks with further instructions on how to claim their appliances.
