Caregiver Support – Council on Aging (COA)

Caregiver Support – Council on Aging (COA) AS A CAREGIVER YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Has your loved one been diagnosed with dementia? Facing problems and need someone to talk to? Not sure what to do next? Community-Care Giving is here to help! It's a free, confidential service for St. Johns County, Florida residents and their families. Community Care-Giving provides tools that promote and empower a positive and successful caregiving experience in an effort to improve the health and well-being of caregivers and their loved ones. The services include assessment of person-centered needs, educational workshops, caregiver support groups, self-care activities, and caregiver and loved one activities and events. For us, Community Care-Giving begins with YOU! Our dedicated professionals will meet with you to help design a care plan that fits the needs of your family. What comes after the diagnosis? Most people who are faced with a diagnosis of dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other forms of memory loss or brain trauma simply don't know where to turn. COA can help you take that all-important next step! Most importantly, please remember that YOU ARE NOT ALONE! We are here to help. To get started, please fill out our confidential COA Caregiver Needs Assessment form. Once you have completed the form, click the Submit button at the bottom. This will provide us with the information needed to be able to meet your specific caregiving needs. (Please note: This assessment does not accept dashes, commas, or periods – even in the phone number. If your response does not go through after pressing the Submit button, please check the corrections needed in red, and try again.) Once your form has been submitted, you will be contacted to schedule an appointment with a COA Certified Dementia Care Practitioner who will set up a time to discuss your situation, develop an individualized education and needs assessment, and support, guide, and empower you to find solutions to those needs. Activities and events held throughout St. Johns County are available to any caregiver in the community. You do not have to face dementia alone – your community is here for you. Pasadena Waldorf School Offers Parent-Child Sweet Pea Classes

The Parent-Child Sweet Pea class is a small group of children along with their parent or caregiver that provides an early opportunity to learn more about child development, healthy parenting, and Waldorf education. Through reading, discussion, and most importantly class observation parents learn how to support their children during their first seven years of childhood. This is a unique class designed for both the parent and the child. The goal is to create a calm, loving space for children in class and at home, supporting the child’s natural individuation process. While parallel play is typical at this developmental state, the children begin to connect more and more with one another. They play freely on their own or with peers and begin to be active in their play rather than remain passive and have the parents “play” the toys for them. Through observation and discussion, parents support each other and their children in this new, exciting stage of development.

Together We Grew 2025 Reflections From a Few of our Teachers   We want to look back on 2025 and share our favorite memories, as well as what we are most excited about in 2026.    We wish you all a happy new year! We’re so excited for the upcoming spring and summer season as we have a lot of events and fun activities planned.  Ms. Miranda  2025  “One of my best memories of 2025 was our Winter Performance. The children practiced for months, and watching them go on stage, confidently perform, and truly have fun in the moment made my heart so full. Seeing all their hard work come together and feeling so proud of each one of them is a moment I will cherish as a teacher.” 2026  “In 2026, I look forward to watching my students graduate, thrive, and continue growing. I can’t wait for them to come back and visit, sharing how much they love school and how they’re striving for greatness. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing your students succeed beyond your classroom.”  Ms. Dolores  2025 “I absolutely look forward to the Winter Performance every year. Seeing all the kids perform so confidently and in the holiday spirit. Especially seeing them rehearse for weeks before, and then seeing the final result with their beautiful outfits, was so wonderful!”  2026
