A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Geneva and Samson, urging residents to immediately prepare for dangerous winds, major flooding, and potential tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Geneva and Samson, effective immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee, FL issued the warning on October 8 at 11:06 AM EDT, set to expire at 7:15 PM UTC today.

Residents in Geneva and Samson should complete all preparations now before hazardous winds arrive. Expect peak winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with potential for strong tropical storm force winds between 58 to 73 mph. Significant wind damage is possible, including damage to roofs, siding, mobile homes, and downed trees, leading to impassable roads and scattered power outages. Unsecured objects can become dangerous projectiles.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. Expect 3-6 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, potentially causing major flooding. Evacuations and rescues are likely as rivers may overflow and flood waters could enter structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings.

The NWS also indicates a favorable situation for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. For more information, visit weather.gov/tallahassee or ema.alabama.gov.
