A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Geneva and Samson, effective immediately. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee, FL issued the warning on October 8 at 11:05 PM EDT, expiring October 9 at 7:15 AM UTC.
Residents in Geneva and Samson must move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive. Prepare for dangerous winds of strong tropical storm force, with potential for 58 to 73 mph. Significant wind damage is possible, including damage to roofing, siding, and mobile homes, as well as snapped trees and impassable roads due to debris. Scattered power and communications outages are expected.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Major flooding from 2-4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, is likely. Evacuations and rescues are anticipated. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers, streams, and creeks may overflow their banks, and floodwaters could enter structures.
The situation is favorable for tornadoes. Be ready to shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued. Several tornadoes, potentially intense, could occur, causing considerable damage. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter immediately.
