Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Geneva and Samson: Act Now!
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Geneva and Samson, with dangerous winds, major flooding, and tornado threats. Residents must take immediate action to secure property and seek safe shelter.
Geneva and Samson residents are urged to take immediate action as a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee, FL, effective October 9, 2026, at 5:17 AM EDT, expiring at 1:30 PM UTC on the same day.
Dangerous winds are anticipated, with peak gusts up to 45 mph, and a potential for sustained winds of 58 to 73 mph. Residents should complete all remaining efforts to protect life and property now. Move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive. Significant wind damage is possible, including damage to roofing, siding, and mobile homes, as well as snapped or uprooted trees, and impassable roads due to debris.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Major flooding from an additional 3-6 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, is expected. Evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Extensive impacts include floodwaters entering structures, roads becoming rivers, and numerous road and bridge closures.
Furthermore, the situation is favorable for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats are advised to relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if issued. Scattered tornadoes could cause significant damage, power loss, and communication failures.
