A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for Southeast St. Tammany, including Slidell, issued today, October 9, at 10:02 AM CDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans LA. This warning indicates a potential for life-threatening storm surge.

Residents in surge-prone areas should shelter immediately against life-threatening storm surge of greater than 3 feet above ground. The NWS forecasts peak storm surge inundation of 3-5 feet above ground, with a window of concern through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Individuals should remain sheltered in a safe location and not venture outside.

Winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force, with gusts up to 45 mph. Little to no additional wind impacts are anticipated, but conditions may be gusty.
